If the tenant stops paying rent, What should I do?
You’re a landlord and you don’t know? If you raisedthe rent during the lease term, then you’re in breach of contract and she doesn’t have to pay the higher cost but just the agreed cost on the lease until it’s term is over. Otherwise, Let her stop then file eviction procedures. She cannot withhold rent because it’s too high and assuming it’s the price listed on the signed lease.
I would tell her that she signed a lease agreeing to pay a set amount of rent and if she stops paying, you will begin eviction proceedings. This one is straightforward for me because I would not allow a tenant to manipulate me this way. It’s not someone I
would want to deal with at all.
