My bathroom ceiling has mold in it, Do l have a legal right not to pay rent until it’s fixed?

It’s useless to ask legal questions without disclosing your jurisdiction…ha, ha… and probably even then it’s
pretty useless.

In my jurisdiction, the owner is required to keep the premises in habitable condition. Mold may or may not be a habitability issue depending on the type. Who pays for remediation depends on the cause. If the
mold on your ceiling is there because of a roof leak, then the owner pays. If it’s there because you take long hot showers and keep all the windows closed, and don’t do any cleaning…then the owner must remediate it and then they can bill you.

In all of your dealings with your “landlord”, be sure to keep a good paper trail.
