Are you serious? How exactly do you conclude that you are not responsible? You sound like a totally shady landlord.

You have responsibilities. Providing a habitable place to live is one of them. Depending on your location and the weather it may not be an emergency repair. But
try to look at the other side. The AC worked when the tenant moved in. They didn’t break it. Things wear out and break down. This is one that’s on you, the landlord. Why should the tenant have to live in no AC in the middle of the summer because you want to cheap out? Be a better landlord and a better human
being.
